Awasi’s new 14-room lodge will open towards the end of 2017. Situated on the banks of the River Iguazú (15 minutes National Park), each villa is assigned with a private guide and 4WD, allowing guests to explore at their own pace, visiting where they want, when they want, and for however long they want.
After days spent exploring the impressive natural scenery in and around the Iguazú Falls,
guests will return to Awasi for a swim in their plunge pool, a drink at the bar in the main lodge and long evening meals in the restaurant.
Built on stilts for minimal environmental impact, the 14 villas will be spread throughout the jungle, each positioned for utmost privacy but within easy distance of the main lodge.
There will be 13 standard villas, and 1 master villa. Each villa will have a private plunge pool, outdoor shower and spacious living area. The master villa will have a larger plunge pool and living room allowing plenty of space for two couples or families.
With the perfect mix of privacy in your villa, along with the opportunity to socialise at the bar and restaurant in the main lodge, Awasi Iguazú will be the perfect place to enjoy the very best of the Misiónes Jungle.
The Iguazu Falls are located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná with the Argentine province of Misiones, surrounded by National Parks (BR / ARG).
The name of the Iguazu Falls (Iguaçu Falls in Portuguese), is derived from a Guarani word meaning "great waters". It is constituted by more than 270 waterfalls originated by the existence of numerous small islands that divide the main stream of the river. The waterfalls have a height of up to 82 m. and a width of 4 km, dimensions that, together with the volume of water mass brought during the rainy season, place them among the most important and spectacular waterfalls in the world.
The impressive landscape beauty of the Iguazu Falls, as well as the varied and abundant animal life and the botanical interest they enclose, have made this place one of the most important and beautiful tourist centers in the world.
As a whole, the tree flora of the Iguazu National Park is composed of more than 90 species, and among the main species of birds that inhabit the place should be mentioned the vencejos, which fly through the openings of the water columns to perching on the rocky wall, where they usually nest. In the catwalk sector it is not uncommon to find coatis and specimens of the big toucan, one of the 5 species of toucans that live in the park.
Among the species in danger of extinction that protects the park, there are: yaguareté, tapir, ocelot, yaguarundí, big anteater, anteater, jungle eagles, and yacaré overo. The mention of all animal species would be endless. Only in the case of birds, 450 species were detected in the park.
